West Boylston Middle/High School 6th graders and their science teacher, Mrs. Pearson, are involved in science exchanges designed to enhance the learning of science while becoming acquainted with the cultures of other nations in an attempt to promote peace.
Mrs. Pearson traveled to Japan in 2002 as a participant in the Fulbright Memorial Fund Program, funded by the Japanese government. See Japan - USA Partnerships for Peace for journals and pictures and project exchanges.
Mrs. Pearson and her husband Harry Pearson are Traveling to Israel July 20 - August 3, 2004. They will be staying outside Nazareth, Israel with Dr. Taha Massalha and his family. See Israel - USA Partnerships for Peace for journals and pictures and project exchanges.
Educational exchange can turn nations into people, contributing as no other form of communication can to the humanizing of international relations. Man's capacity for decent behavior seems to vary directly with his perception of others as individual humans with human motives and feelings, whereas his capacity for barbarism seems related to his perception of an adversary in abstract terms, as the embodiment, that is, of some evil design or ideology.
